Last Thursday, the tecnology developers and validators met in Bucharest (Romania), one of the main worldwide wine producing countries, to pool the results of the tests performed during the véraison, ripening and post-harvesting time with the VINBOT robot. New advances reached during the previous months in terms of geolocalisation, positioning and image capture and analysis were also presented to the technical companies and vinegrowers associations.
The robot will be sent in the following days to Portugal, where more tests will be performed.
The progress of VINBOT technology has been presented today 3rd July 2014 in Hungary.
The developers are meeting in the town of Kiskőrös (Hungary) organised by the local vinegrower and winemaker association OGSZ.
A first assessment of the survey that is being carried out (participate in our survey! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/P5DL595) has been presented. Then, the advances on the ground truth database collection have been explained. After that, some pictures of the current state of the sensory system have been shown. Moreover, the outcomes of the experiments carried out last April in Portugal during which 3D data were obtained from the sensors on the mobile platform were described. Finally, tasks to be developed before the harvesting were explained.
To conclude, at this moment the developers are satisfied with the progress of this new technology although lot of work has still to be done in the forthcoming years.
Have a look at our report about how the VINBOT’s website was developed and some guidelines to help you surf the web!
D9.1. Construction of a website portal
We have just uploaded a new video with some datasets of the ISA first experiments.
The video shows the data obtained by Robotnik SummitXL mobile robot at the ISA vineyard by means of a Hokuyo 3D Laser Range Finder.
VINBOT will be represented at the BizBarcelona on the 4th-5th June 2014. This event brings the largest number of SMEs and entrepreneuers (12,000 trade visitors expected) looking for suppliers and solutions together in Spain.
Ateknea will have a stand where our experts will explain the technology to stakeholders and provide them a leaflet of VINBOT.

If you are a winegrower or a stakeholder in this sector you can participate in our survey and raise your voice on the methods currently used to estimate the grape production in your country. With your contribution we will better understand the situation nowadays and we will use it to adapt the VINBOT technology to your needs. It will take you few minutes of your time to answer these 10 questions!

The European Commission welcomes the decision by ICANN’s new generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) Program Committee (“NGPC”) to put on hold the applications for .wine and .vin and its encouragement to applicants to negotiate.
This postponement, even though only for two months, is important since it allows holders of geographical indications rights and the wine industry to conclude agreements on the matter with the applicants for the new generic Top-Level Domain names “.vin” and “.wine”.
The Commission believes that this postponement is the right one, as geographical indications for wine must be protected from domain name claims that put at risk the viability and integrity of this important sector
