The Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), with more than 150 years of experience, is the largest, oldest and most qualified school of graduate and post-graduate degrees in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, in Portugal. It belongs to the University of Lisbon, one of the biggest universities in Portugal, which is an interdisciplinary high education and scientific research organisation, comprised of 18 Faculties and Institutes. The core mission of ISA is Higher Education, Research & Development, and Technology Transfer in the scientific fields of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Engineering, Food Science and Engineering, Animal Production Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biology, and Landscape Architecture. Within Higher Education, ISA is attended by 1824 undergraduate, master and PhD students. The 124 professors and 24 Researchers are PhD graduates with recognised scientific work published in international journals, books, and conferences.
Presently, ISA is involved in 88 Research & Development projects, 16 of which are international in scope. ISA is the leading partner in 2 international project and 54 national projects, financed by EC and national funds. ISA is also involved in several projects concerning Technology Transfer. Our partners include universities, research institutes, and private enterprises. In addition, ISA hosts 6 nationally recognised scientific research centres.
All of these activities are supported by an experienced administrative staff, which includes financial, human resources, and public relations managers, and a general project support team.
